Firm believers in the saying “an image is worth a thousand words” we debuted this month our brand new video, a clear reflection of both the island’s mythical allure, as well as our vision for authentic Mykonian hospitality. The video fuses the island’s past and present through beautiful, quintessentially Mykonian imagery that stirs the soul and fuels wanderlust.
Directed and produced by Vangelis Paterakis and Studio Paterakis, the video opens with awe-inspiring shots of Mykonos’ shorelines, an amazing juxtaposition of turquoise waters and rugged rocks, underlining the island’s wild yet captivating beauty. Fluid and ever-changing, the sceneries of Mykonos alternate before the eyes bridging bygone eras with the now, with expressive imagery that speaks to the heart.
Mykonos’ traditional windmills take centre stage next. As the camera weaves between them, the viewer feels transported to a land untouched by time where nothing divulges the cosmopolitan vibes the island is renowned for. Because true to its owners’ dream, Kalesma Mykonos offers the kind of authentic hospitality that can only be encountered off the beaten path, where customs were born, where myths materialised, where Apollo, the Olympian deity, found his sanctuary.
Accompanied by a soothing soundtrack based primarily on nature sounds and composed by Stefanos Giakoumakis, the glimmer of a silver horse-shaped artefact, the same as Kalesma Mykonos’ minimalist logo, rises from the depth of Delos’ waters. Casting its glow all around, it emerges from the waves and illuminates Mykonos’ impressive legacy, allowing it to shine bright for all to see.
As the video progresses, the island’s ancient and contemporary characters meld into one. With vivid imagery from the traditional threshing ground giving its place to shots of yoga sessions on that very spot, it becomes apparent that Mykonos has managed to retain its essence throughout the years, regardless of the changes it has lived through. At Kalesma Mykonos, the island’s unfading spirit meets a forward-thinking approach to hospitality, presenting the ultimate Mykonian fairytale to travellers in the know.
This beautiful video, conceived and inspired by Kalesma co-owner and partner Sophia Kousathana, is Kalesma Mykonos’ way of honouring an exceptional 2022 season. It is a keepsake, of sorts, until the time the Mykonian village opens its doors again to welcome guests, renewed and ready to host sun-kissed moments. It was a year spent making memories with guests who sought out the originality of Kalesma’s hospitality and enjoyed its unparalleled services, a summer that we already look back on fondly.
