ENERGY SAVING

Conserving energy is of the utmost importance at Kalesma Mykonos where LED light bulbs are utilised across the property, function with motion sensors in public areas and ensure adequate lighting when necessary. The same energy-saving approach is applied to the cooling technology present in all guest rooms and public areas, all of them operating refrigerants with lower environmental impact. Hotel equipment and appliances function in energy-saving modes too for optimised conservation while solar panel installation is currently underway. A fleet of electric vehicles has been selected for guest transportation, echoing Kalesma Mykonos’ adherence to environmentally-friendly practices beyond the hotel’s walls.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

At Kalesma Mykonos, sustainability extends beyond the natural environment to include the people, traditions and cultural heritage that give the island its distinct identity.

Beyond supporting local businesses, producers and artisans throughout its operations, the hotel actively seeks ways to preserve and celebrate elements of Cycladic culture that continue to shape the character of the destination.

One such example is Kalesma’s collaboration with textile artist and experimental archaeologist Faye Chatzi, whose work is dedicated to preserving and reinterpreting the art of weaving through a contemporary lens. Through seasonal weaving workshops and demonstrations, guests are invited to engage with traditional Cycladic techniques while discovering the role weaving once played in everyday island life.

By creating opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange, Kalesma aims to connect guests not only with Mykonos itself, but also with the people, stories and traditions that define it. Through these collaborations, local knowledge and craftsmanship remain a living part of the guest experience rather than a tradition observed from a distance.
